AM2 or Core 2 Duo?

Hi guys (and girls)

I'm looking to upgrade my system by buying a motherboard/CPU bundle.

after looking around a bit it pretty much comes down to two CPU's within my budget

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Socket 2.33GHz with Gigabyte GA G33M-DS2R iG33 Express DDR2 Motherboard


or

AMD AM2 6000+ Dual Core CPU with an Asus M2N-E SLI NF500 motherboard


Opinions on review sites appear to be split, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
