AMD VS INTEL!!! does mhz/ghz count!!

Hey everyone i have been reading up on cpu's rescently as im going to be buying a new computer somewhere in the near future and i am starting to favour amd because i have found that amd offers you more ghz for less price eg: amd 6400+ 3.2ghz dual core cpu only $200 whereas intel e-sumthing 3.2ghz dual core cpu costs $250. both these cpu's have the same fsb and the same cache sizes but i have people who keep telling me that the intel one is better because all intels are faster than amd's. I have had alot of people tell me that the lcock speed in ghz of the cpu's between amd and intel cant be compared because intel ghz are faster than amd ghz. is this true? i always thought that a mhz/ghz was a precise measurement that is universal but yet by what people keep telling me it seems that if you have to cpu's 1 amd 1 intel with the same clock speed, fsb and chaches size that the intel would be faster because intel clockspeed is meant to be better than amd. is this true? i just dont understand how if the fsb and the cache are the same in both and the clockspeed are the same in both how is the intel cpu better? does it have some secret here an intel hurtz is better than an amd hurtz? please if you can help me understand i would really appreciate it because i did believe amd is better and i still do but if there is any truth in intel processors being better despite clockspeed being the same then i may have to change my mind.
