Hey I am about to build a new computer, I am a hard core gamer and can't decide which cpu to get...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+  (2.0Ghz)
OR
Intel Core 2 Duo (2.0Ghz)

I have heard the Core 2 Duo can overclock up to 3.4ghz, That would be very nice...

Which one should I buy?

Thank you!

Go with the Core 2.  Hands down the benchmarks show it.  Yes overclocking a Core 2 is extremely easy and there have been reports of crazy clockspeeds mainly because the processor generates hardly any heat.

At this time going for the core 2 makes sense unless you feel like waiting if you do then Id wait for k8l next year. Don't bother buying what amd is going to release soon because in spring their planning to release something even better.
