I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

Recently i upgraded to a new mobo & processor -

Gigabyte GA-8VT880P Combo with Intel Celeron D 3.06Ghz (LGA775)

From the day i first used the new parts, the fan speed alternates, more than i think it should.
(i d/ld a speed monitor and it jumps from about 800rpm to 1500+rpm constantly!)
Initially i asked around and was told it shouldnt be much of a probem, provided i dont excessively use the pc, which i do.

Lately the fan has been getting worse, and the heatsink along with the side panels of the case have been getting very warm.

Lol i know Celerons are the worst CPU's but I only had limited cash

The BIOS tells me it sits at around 48-52 degrees after a few hours use.

Is the unusual temperature and crazy fan speed something i should be concerned about?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

While those temperatures will not kill your processor, they could definatly be lower.  I know some motherboards have the ability to control the heat sink fan speed depending on the temperature of your processor.  This could easily be checked by going into your bios and making sure that such option isn't enabled.

If the motherboard doesn't have a feature like that or the feature is disabled, than I would definatly consider buying a new heat sink.  The stock heat sink is not the best thing in the world so you would also see a drop in temperatures when you installed a new heat sink.  When you do buy a new heat sink, it wouldn't hurt to buy a tube of Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound to use with the new heat sink.  Arctic Silver is a little pricey though compared to other thermal compounds and is not necessary unless you are going to be overclocking.

Well you were right, my motherboard does have that option, it was called CPU Smart Fan, which was a simple setting that was default to enabled in the BIOS, so i turned it off, now i can barely hear the fan! Thanx for ur help.
