I dont get it... and the laptop's fans are pretty much at their limit too. i do not want to underclock the CPU, so what can i do?

Holy. Crap.

No - That is NOT normal, by any stretch of the imagination. What machine is this in? If the laptop is still under warranty I would consider exchanging it. What method are you using to measure the temp? Either that or the proc is broken. If it's really running that hot, I wouldn't be suprised if it fries down the road. Let us know what's going on.

I don't know the maximum temperature for the mobile A64s but that has to be pretty close.  Have you tried buying a can of compressed air and blowing out all the fans (don't even need to open the casing).  How are you monitoring the temperature?  If you are using a third party program, the application could be reporting temperatures that are higher than what the actual temperatures are.

Does the laptop freeze or reboot on its own?  Usually when a processor gets to hot, you will notice that programs start to freeze and most times the laptop will reboot on it's own.

How old is the laptop?  If it is still under warrantee you might want to consider contacting the manufacturer and see what they recommend.  There might be something wrong that needs to get fixed.

the laptop is about to get its first year, still under garantee, i think. the manufacturer is IBUYPOWER, a pretty, em, untrusty company. The inside of the laptop is really clean, jst cleaned it out, and surprisingly, the comp. does not freeze or slow down, at least to my point of view... I used the app. called SpeedFan, which is also used to control the fan speeds, but i dont change the speeds, i let the laptop do that by itself.

Well since you aren't experiencing any freezing or slow down, then it is most likely that speedfan is reporting the temperatures wrong.  I have noticed that it speedfan isn't reliable when it comes to reporting temperatures.

Motherboard monitor is the only one that I know of and it is usually pretty reliable.  However it was discontinued in 2004 so it might not be compatible with the newer motherboards.  It can be downloaded from http://mbm.livewiredev.com/download.html
