Mouse Disappears in XP
«

After I formatted my system now every now and then (mainly when I load a game) the mouse just all of the sudden Disappears. It still works I can still click on things but I can't see the physical cursor and I can't get it to come back unless I restart my system
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in Advanced

I don't really know what could be causing the problem but have you tried restoring your computer to a restore point before you had the problems?

Is this device specific? Can you plug in a different mouse, reboot and have it work?
This sounds like a GUI/driver error in windows, try reinstalling the mouse drivers.
OH! What about safe mode. If it works in safe-mode, then there's some prorram conflict that plays havoc with the mouse cursor. Let us know what happens!

I am having the same problems, it only seems to occur when the processor is under a heavy load and you try to do to much at one time (loading up hl2, windows starting, starting iTunes/recognizing iPod) Any feedback would be great, cause this problem is really starting to drive me nuts.

I'm getting the exact same problem .ssmith is describing. It's happening at seemingly random times when the processor is under a heavy load. Sometimes even at startup when it's loading everything.
I tried a system restore to before I remembered having the problem, but that didn't seem to fix it. I also tried switching mice, which didn't work, and reinstalling mouse drivers as well as switching to an older video card driver. So far nothing has worked and this is the most frustrating thing ever.

Sorry guys I forgot to post what I've found. It's a known bug in the 81 series nvidia drivers. From what I've herd it is triggered by someone launching a HL2 Series Game or Battlefield 2. I rolled mine back to the 79 I believe or what ever the latest 70 seriest driver was and that took care of the problem
