I personally like Kingston, however Crucial is one of my favorite ram manufacturers out there.  Non-ECC means that it doesn't have ECC (Error Correcting Code).  Basically all ECC does it check the data stored on the ram and make sure it isn't corrupted and if the data is corrupted then ECC will try to correct the data.  However, ECC isn't necessary for home users and is usually only used in servers.  Also if you are not going to be overclocking (you probably couldn't overclock a lot with a ECS board), there isn't any advantage than buying memory that can run at a higher speed than your motherboard can support which is probably PC3200.  By going with PC3200 instead of PC4000, you would be able to save a nice chunk of change.  Also by going with two 512mb of sticks of ram, you would be able to save even more and if your motherboard supports dual channel, you may even see a performance increase. Here are a few ideas for you:

Kingston ValueRAM 1GB (2 x 512MB)

OCZ Performance Series 1GB (2 x 512MB)

Mushkin Redline XP3200 1GB (2 x 512MB)

CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB)

Corsair XMS is the bomb, but you pay quite a bit for the name. Mushkin, Kingston Hyper-X, all very good. I just went with some crucial stuff, good price, pretty basic.

Just out of curiousity, did you buy that motherboard yet or is that just what you plan to buy?  If you didn't buy it yet then I suggest you use the money you save on ram and use it to buy a little nicer motherboard.  ECS boards aren't bad boards if all you want it for is a computer that will only be used for web surfing, email, etc. but won't perform the best under gaming conditions.

By pci do you mean PCI-E (express)?  They are two different standards so you want to try and keep them straight so you don't confuse people who are trying to help you.  It is no big deal here but at any of the larger forums you probably would have gotten a reply like "Almost all modern motherboards have pci..."  They may even call you a few names if you are lucky  Tongue

Epox EP-5EPA+

Asus P5GD2 Premium

You would probably be just fine with the Epox motherboard and it is the least expensive of the 3 motherboards that I listed.  Keep in mind that just because your not going to be overclocking doesn't mean you don't need an motherboard that is setup for overclocking.  These boards are typically a lot higher quality and will perform a lot better even with all the stock settings because they are meant to be pushed to the limits.

wow your fast too.  I was just in the process of editing and adding to my post and you replied by the time I was done.  Hopefully a few of the other members will come around and post a few more suggestions for you.
