Well, last night it was the first time that I got a memory dump on my computer...And now it seems whenever I put in a cd  after a couple minutes it keeps happening. I'm not sure whether its a virus, or what but its driving me nuts.

Memory dumps can be caused by any number of things.  It could be caused by a program or process that is running on your computer or it could be caused by bad hardware.  It would most likely be ram if it was being caused by hardware.

What kind of cd is it (music, data, dvd, etc) and do you have autoplay turned on.  It could possibly be caused by the program that autoplay is trying to start up.  Another thing is have you tried different cds?

Yes, I have tried different cds. It started last night when I tried to watch The Animatrix. I got the memory dump and didn't think much of it. I got home from school and tried to rip some stuff and got the dump again. Later on tonight I'll try to boot to Knoppix and that will solve the hardware or Windows issue.

Also, yes I do have autoplay turned on...I should probably disable that.

Yep. I searched around Dell.com and found that there was an update for my drive. I downloaded that, installed, rebooted and now it seems to be working just fine.

I forgot all about an update but then again you don't normally have to install drivers and updates for cd and dvd drives...
