D-Link and LinkSys seem to be what everyone uses for the cheap price. I would say 3-COM, but that would defiantely "break the bank"

Yeah I've used Linksys since I first setup a network and I'm happy with them. They're wired networks are very good and so are the wireless. Watch out for some price reductions everyonce and a while or packages in the weekly ads.

Linksys males some good hardware but their firmware isn't the greatest in the world.  I recommend that anyone who gets a linksys router goes to DSL Reports Forum and find the most stable firmware release for the router.  In most cases it will probably end up being older firmware but your main concern should be how well the router performs, not the age of the firmware.

If that isn't the truth.  You know the funny thing was that the first day they were released people already knowed how to hack them.  That's Microsoft for you...

And yeah cisco routers are pretty nice.  They can be a real pain to configure however.

Cisco routers are really nice once they are configured. and I have learned to NEVER EVER EVER EVER use the setup utility that is bundled w/ them Smiley its faster to do it yourself Smiley

The WRT54G is a good router.  I have used one since they first came out and had very little problems.  There is also third party firmware available for the WRT54G.

I got mine a few months ago and I'm pretty happy with it. I was happy with my wired one but since that wasn't really an option here I'm beginning to like the possibilities compared to before.
