Yesterday the Suprnova site was taken offline.  For those that don't know what suprnova was, it was probably the most popular and biggest collection of links to torrent on other trackers.  If you don't know what Bit Torrent is then you might want to check out http://10mbit.com/faq/bt/ .  Anyways, there is no official word as to why the site was shut down but it is most likely due to pressure from the MIAA.  The MIAA has decided to take the path of the RIAA but instead of sueing individuals, they are sueing the sites that list and host the torrent files.

I think he's referring to the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America).

O yeah sorry.  I thought it was the Movie Industry Association of America for some reason when I posted the thread.  Many of the more popular torrent tracker sites are going offline.  The reason that the MPAA can sue the sites hosting the trackers is because Bit Torrent relies on the tracker for more than the initial download of the torrent file.  The BT client connects to the tracker numerous times during the file download and if the tracker goes down, your download will either stop or go extremely slow.  Therefore it is not decentralized like Kazaa and what not.
