Windows Passwords

I need to know how long a password can be, and what kind of characters Windows allows for a password. Can anyone help me out with this?

I believe that 2000 and XP allow up to 127 characters in a password and you can use letters, numbers, and the symbols ` ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + - = { } | [ ] \ : " ; ' < > ? , . / in a password

Is it going to to use brute force to recover the passwords, word lists, or a combination of both?

A combination of both. I haven't worked on it much in the past week or so, but tommorow I'm hoping I'll have time to fix it up. I have it working for 4 character passwords at the moment and I'll probably extend it up to around 15 character passwords.

my admin password is 33chars long if that helps.  But letme know whatn that's finished i'd like to try that out.  l0pht crack is hard to come by

Why would you make your admin password 33 characters long?  Do you have top secret stuff one your computer or is a hacker out to get you?  If you don't log out or lock your computer every time you leave the computer then it isn't doing you any good.  My admin password is only 8 - 12 characters long.
