Might not be new news to all of you but it was to me and it sounds like a pretty awesome idea/concept.

WiMAX is a standards-based wireless technology that provides high-throughput broadband connections over long distances. WiMAX can be used for a number of applications, including "last mile" broadband connections, hotspot and cellular backhaul, and high-speed enterprise connectivity for businesses.

I hope this works out.  It would be really nice to be able to connect to my home WAP at one of my friends house.  Of course there would be certain security and other issues that would have to be addressed first before I would consider using WiMAX at my home or business...

Isn't there something now that you can be online in your car and on the road? Like through the satellites or something? Or maybe I'm just thinking of something else...

I know that you can use your cell phone to connect to the internet.  I use my cell phone to connect to the internet all the time.

It would be nice, especially if it got into the rural communities, which it probably will.
There are also cards you can get from various providers like Sprint, Verison, and T-Mobile I believe reach around ISDN speeds.

That would definatly be nice if it is used to get broadband into areas that have been left with only two choices: dialup or satellite.
