I was looking around on Newegg today and I noticed that they had XP MCE 2005 for sale. It is about time that Microsoft made MCE available to the general public without having to purchase a media center PC from an OEM.

More info about Windows XP Media Center 2005 can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediace...n/whatsnew.mspx

It is Microsoft's policy that all OEM software be purchased with a piece of hardware.  Microsoft's definition of hardware is pretty much anything from a mouse to a complete computer.

I am sure that no body here really cares about whether or not they can get support from Microsoft.  It would probably be easier for them to post their problems here than to wait on hold for a long time and have to deal with flowchart monkeys (don't know what they are talking about and use a flow chart to troubleshoot your problem)

Where did you get your copy? I checked on NewEgg but the cheapest copy I found was $143. (I'm looking for a full, not upgrade, version, by the way.)

http://store.yahoo.com/directron/winxppro.html

that's the place where I bought it.  They were awesome for me.  It looks like they've uped the price to 129 but still not a bad deal.

One Warning Do not throw away the plastic wrap that the CD and Manual is enclosed in.  The CD-Key is stickered to it.

When you get it.  It's not a boxed version just the manual and CD with the Key stickered on the plastic wrap.

Your supposed to peal the sticker off the plastic wrap and stick it somewhere on your computer case.  No picchioni it isn't that hard to remove from the plastic.  It should just peel right off.
