I am going to make an unattended xp installation disk tomorrow (or in about 12 hours or so).  However, the guide i'm trying to follow wants me to use a disk that has been slipstreamed with SP2.  I have been leary about installing SP2 because of all the problems that people have and the options that all get changed.

What do you guys think about this?  Should I try to find a guide that uses SP1a instead?

I haven't had any problems with SP2, however if you want to make sure that you don't have any problems you might as well do it with SP1a.

You might what to check out nLite.  It is a great program that makes slipstreaming windows cds with the windows updates easy.  More info can be found at http://nuhi.msfn.org/

I decided to go ahead with my unattended install disk.  I finished alot of it but have a couple things (6 to be exact) I want to solve before I burn my final copy.

1 - antivirus not installed balloon (after the install I get a message saying that antivirus software might not be installed)
2 - classic start menu (it is set up with the windows xp startup menu.  I prefer the classic one)
3 - no tour (tries to bring up the tour and you have to close it)
4 - autoupdates not off (I want it to turn off automatic updates)
5 - remote still checked (I want it to turn off remote access)
6 - system restore still active (finally I want to stop system restore)

I am looking for registry hacks or dos commands that will solve the previous 6 problems.  Any help would be appreciated.

I do not know of any ways of hacking the install cd to disable/enable those features.  I do know however that there are registry hacks for after you install windows.

That's what i'm looking for.  I found one for #'s 1, 2, 3 (I haven't tested them but downloaded some .reg files.)  I still need ones for #'s 4, 5, 6.

are you looking for registry hacks and what not to do after you install windows or are you wanting the hacks to be added to your Windows XP cd so that they will be done automatically when you install windows?

I have a batch file that runs when it logs me in for the first time.  The batch file installs some registry patches I have already set up to do 1-3.  Then the batch files do a few other things like deleting some shortcuts I don't use, etc...
