I am going to get my parents a DVD player soon because we keep having to bring up the playstation 2 to let them watch dvd's.  Is there a good (Cheap) dvd player out there?  They don't watch them that often.  My mom also says she wants one with a VCR built in.

Any suggestions?

My dad has a Samsung DVD/VCR combo and I love it.  It was only about 120 bucks, which last time I checked, was a pretty good price for a DVD/VCR combo.

One quick note.  If you mom wants the built in VCR so she can record DVDs to a VCR tape, it won't work.  The player or DVD (I can't remember which) has some sort of copy protection that will not allow it to be copied....

We have a tv in our kitchen that we watch while eating.  It is just on the counter (has cable set up to it).  However we also have 2 kids in the house and they are always trying to watch movies or whatever in there.  So she just wants the combo so we don't have to have 2 boxes sitting next to the tv on the counter.

You could go one step better and get a TV with DVD and VCR built in. No wires! Although I don't actually suggest it myself, because if one goes out you're screwed. But if neat and pretty is what the little misses wants.... Then you'd have an extra TV and DVD player for the garage, or a PS2 in the bathroom, but nobody would want to use the controller, ewww.

Like you suggested with them all combined is actually a reason I would like to get them both separatly.  I know we had a tv/vcr combo where the vcr died within the first year.  It is basically a piece of crap that we have sitting in our garage.  Thanks thou.
